Camberwell Press is a London based studio and platform currently residing at Assembly Point – Camberwell Press is an affiliate of Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London. The studio has various strands of activity: including events, design, research, publishing and is run by design associates, editorial associates, a director, studio manager and collaborators.
James is a practitioner teaching, exhibiting, curating, making and thinking within the subjects of contemporary art, design and publishing. This collaborative practice and research is realised as: Director of Camberwell Press, a Director of Assembly Point, one half of contemporary art collaborative duo Edgar–Walker and a tutor at the University of the Arts, London.
Working both independently and collaboratively on a variety of projects at the Press, Sam is also one half of SO Studio, a design practice established with fellow Design Associate Oliver Boulton. Running parallel to this, SO Studio are also facilitators of workshops, namely Particitype, allowing new ways of working with different people to influence both their independent and studio practice.
Flaminia is a Design Associate at Camberwell Press. She works for the Production team at frieze magazine, and is one half of Film Club, a collaboration with designer Vanessa Periam. Together they explore the social implications of films and cinema by relying on visual manipulation, filtering pop culture references through a design perspective.
Camberwell College of Arts alumnus with a background in Economics, Marios works at Camberwell Press on a project-based basis and occasionally teaches on BA Fine Art and BA Design Programmes. He is one half of an ongoing collaboration with artist Lea Collet, Associate Curator at contemporary art gallery Assembly Point and co-founder of vis com agency Bild.
Studio Manager / Design Associate
Eilis is the Studio Manager as well as a Design Associate at Camberwell Press. Occasionally teaching across the Design Programme at Camberwell College of Arts, Eilis is interested in education and beautiful books.
Equipped with experience of working at various design studios, Oliver has previously embraced a culture that focuses on typographically led workshops, namely Particitype, that explore the importance of a direct relationship with type and the materiality of forms. Oliver manages projects and works both independently and collaboratively with other associates at the press. Oliver is also one half of SO Studio with fellow Design Associate, Sam Jones.
Harry works as a Projects Associate at Camberwell Press, producing editorial content as well a number of events and workshops. Outside of the Press, Harry works within set design whilst continuing with his own artistic practice.
Design / Projects Associates
Bild is a collaborative vis com agency run by freelance senior mid weight interns Christopher Lacy and Marios Stamatis. Established with the aim to take more control over what it is they really want to produce, show and learn as practitioners. They have worked on and off with Camberwell Press since 2013, and will continue to do so for as long as it remains an invaluable educational resource for young creatives.
