Camberwell Press is pleased to present 'Let's Get Quizzical: Design Pub Quiz' at The Tiger, Camberwell Green, 26 February from 7.30pm. The evening will be brought to you with our special guest host Jim the Illustrator as the compere. There will be categories of Typography, Animation, Illustration, Film and more to question your creative knowledge with picture rounds, font anagrams and multiple choices. Illustration and fine art print goodies to be won! Come down, drink beer, and compete.

Christmas E-Cards illustrated by Camberwell Press' in-house illustrators Charlotte Mei, Grace Helmer and Victoria Willmott. Cards were designed in response to the three strands of activity that Camberwell Press represent: Design, Publishing and Events.

971 Horses and 4 Zebras is an exhibition at Wimbledon Space of artists' films that focus on labour intensive animation techniques as part of contemporary practice. The exhibition showcases a wide variety of approach and style with 15 animation artists involved. A coinciding screening and panel discussion at Tate Modern Starr auditorium will take place on Thursday 29 November.

Camberwell Press published a fold out booklet designed by Work-Form for the exhibition that runs from 2 November to 9 December at Wimbledon Space.

Existing in the top floor of Southbank Centre is The Poetry Library, a hermitage for poetry enthusiasts. Holding the most comprehensive and accesible collection of poetry from 1912, with an exhibition space featuring artists work that engage with the collection in the library.

Camberwell's BA Illustration tutor, Mary Kuper, exhibits at The Poetry Library with her enchanting figurative illustrations toying with the unconcious and concious state between words poets use. Mary chose to follow the words poetry, dame, pedigree, barnacle and allusion back to their origins depicting their role in the stories they are told in. 

Mokita's second illustration forum will explore 'The Sentimental Gene' in illustration, covering themes of presence, function, validity, and the role of 'sentimentality' as a medium in illustration. Mokita is founded by Camberwell Press director Darryl Clifton, sparking discussion and educating our illustration theories with leading practitioner speakers.

Jiggling Atoms is an interdisplinary project fusing physics lectures with Camberwell illustrators to experiment the wonders of science and art as a combined medium. Devised by Camberwell Press' Natalie Kay Thatcher and co-curated by Rosie Eveleigh, Jennifer Crouch, Dr. Ben Still and Malte Oppermann, Jiggling Atoms comprises of an exhibition, science based workshops, and topical talks starting 1st to 7th October at The Rag Factory, 16 - 18 Heneage St, E1 5LJ.

Day seven was an opportunity to reference production methods from the past, their place in history and their influence and relevance now. Cedar Lewisohn and South East Zine's Lisa Novak and Chris Dodson discussed small-press publishing, independent mind-sets and working within the canon with ideas that sit very much outside of it; Graham Congreve from Evolution Print came armed with a generous edition of Evolution Print posters to give away, extensive print know-how and an unbridled enthusiasm for the smell, look and feel of printed matter; Camberwell Press Editor Billie Muraben ran a cut and paste workshop with Illustration students and independent publishing afficionado Teal Triggs gve a talk on fanzines and counter-culture publishing, past and present. 

Writing on the Wall brings to life poems in a new dynamic format that explores the imaginative possibilites of art and poetry with some of the best UK illustrators, from Camberwell, drawing live on stage. Camberwell illustration tutors Zeel Geff Coupland, and Jim Stoten will perform live illustration with accompanying poetry by Catherine Smith to represent the visuals connecting the poets words to illustrators minds. Day six saw the Camberwell Press designers head north to Walworth for Mr Smith’s Letterpress Workshop; illustrator and tutor Mary Kuper lead a card-cut relief printing workshop, the brain-child of Press, Editor Natalie Kay-Thatcher, communicating the work of physicist Richard Feynman through printed diagrams with the help of Super/Collider; illustrator, printmaker and wildman Stephen Fowler held his travelling rubber-stamp workshop – producing a single-section, multi-layered book of prints; and powerhouse design duo Charlie Abbott and Theo Sion produce an illustrated history and future of the Camberwell Press logo.

It was a day of inside jobs as we saw two inner Press projects carried out in full steam. The Oxford School Trip was organised by Press team members Jake Hopwood, Alex Hough, Freddy Williams and BA Graphic Design third year Charlie Abbott. The Visualising Literature drawing workshop by Press members/Illustrators Billie Muraben and Rosie Eveleigh. As well as these lively activities, Hato Press installed their mobile library in the gallery space and indulged us with a live twitter chat.

Seeking to create the concept of the ideal studio within a public space, Camberwell Press is taking over Camberwell Space gallery for two and a half weeks. The exhibition will culminate in a publication launch from material generated via a series of talks, workshops, design & publishing projects.  Curated by James Edgar.

The BA Illustration 2011 graduate catalogue OVO: Camberwell College Class of 2011 present …  was designed by Joseph Hales of Fraser Muggeridge and edited by Billie Muraben. The idea was to curate the content in a way that gave it more of a lifespan than the standard catalogue format. The work was organised by chapter according to discipline, and the visual content, biographies and contact details were separated to give each contributors more weight, past being pages of ‘business cards’.

Different Ways to Say the Same Thing: Four cards from Bruno Munari's Immagini Della Realta, via Stopping off Place.  Intended for 3-6 year olds, the boxed edition of 40 cards of photographic images, plus 12 to draw on, was intended to learn about the different ways of representing objects.  Three different games can be played with the cards: The Words and Images game, The Misleading Images game, and The Classification game.

As the subject of illustration becomes ever more popular, the need to look at it with a critical eye becomes more important.  To accompany the 2011 Camberwell lllustration graduate show and publication, they wanted to generate an informative and intellectual discussion which matched their ambition and energy to meet the challenges that an image heavy world presents.  In that spirit of enquiry and broad engagement a number of burning questions on what their subject is, and what it can be, have been put to Adrian Shaughnessy, celebrated educator author and designer, and Darryl Clifton Design Programme Director at Camberwell College of Arts.
